The traditional fund-raising sports memorabilia auction has been given a cyberspin by UCLA this week, with a John Wooden-autographed basketball, a Jonathan Ogden-autographed football and an old George Zidek jersey among the items available for open bidding on the Internet.

The UCLA on-line auction, intended to raise money for athletic scholarships, opened last Friday and will continue through 7 p.m. this Friday. Photographs and brief descriptions of each item being auctioned are included on the site, along with the current bid for the item.

How much would you spend for an Olympic women’s soccer jersey signed by ex-Bruin Joy Fawcett? (Current bid is $65.) Or a Kevin Jordan football jersey? (Current bid: $35.) Or an autographed black-and-white action photo of J.R. Henderson? (Current bid: $20.)

Several non-UCLA-related articles have been donated, including a hockey stick signed by the 1995-96 L.A. Kings. Item description reads: “The 1995-96 season for the Los Angeles Kings was an important one for the history books. Former player Rogie Vachon replaced head coach Barry Melrose midseason . . . Former captain Wayne Gretsky [sic] was traded to the St. Louis Blues . . . “

Yes, cherish those golden memories forever. Current bid: $100.
