Newcomer Correa Gives JetHawks a Lift With Home Run in Ninth, 4-3
A solo home run by Miguel Correa in the top of the ninth inning gave the Lancaster JetHawks a 4-3 victory over the San Bernardino Stampede in a California League game Monday at San Bernardino.
Correa, a left fielder who joined the JetHawks on Friday after signing as a free agent, also doubled in a run. He is six for 12 since signing.
Allan Westfall pitched the ninth for his second save. Sean Spencer (1-0) earned the victory, allowing three hits and no runs in 2 2/3 innings.
Designated hitter Yuni Kim, who had played left field until Correa signed, hit two doubles and drove in two runs.
The JetHawks (9-10) opened the scoring in the second inning on doubles by Kim and Dusty Wathan. Doubles by Kim and Correa keyed a two-run third that gave Lancaster a 3-0 lead.
San Bernardino, which outhit Lancaster, 11-5, scored once in the sixth and twice in the seventh.
