Cope’s Blast Blisters Thousand Oaks, 6-4

Ryan Cope, who transferred from Thousand Oaks High to Westlake before the season, hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to lift the Warriors to a 6-4 Marmonte League victory over the Lancers on Wednesday at Westlake.

Cope, a junior second baseman batting .447, has five homers. Jeff Boyle (4-1) pitched five innings for Westlake (12-4, 5-1 in league play), giving up three hits, three earned runs, striking out three and walking two.

Catcher Shea Johnson doubled for Thousand Oaks (9-9, 2-5), and catcher Chris Parker doubled for Westlake.

Agoura 6, Channel Islands 5--Nick Gontmaher had three hits--including a pair of doubles--drove in one run and scored twice for the host Chargers (8-9, 3-4) in a Marmonte League come-from-behind victory.

Sophomore shortstop Ryan Martinez doubled twice, singled, scored a run and drove in a run for Channel Islands (8-9, 1-6), and Craig Knight hit a three-run home run.

Camarillo 7, Newbury Park 4--Andy Kroneberger went two for three and stole five bases for the Scorpions (17-3-1, 6-0-1) in a Marmonte League game at Camarillo.

Jeff Bannon, Joe Borchard and Joe Yingling each had RBI singles in a four-run sixth inning that turned a 3-2 edge into a 7-2 advantage.

Sophomore right-hander Shane Miranda (5-0) gave up four earned runs, nine hits and struck out three in six innings.

Danny Greene, Ryan Shipton and Joe Hamer each had two hits for the Panthers (8-11, 0-7).

Antelope Valley 9, Littlerock 0--Sean Douglass had a two-run home run, a two-run double and drove in five runs for the Antelopes (12-7, 5-0) in a Golden League game at Littlerock.

Third baseman Kevin Barlow became Antelope Valley’s all-time hit leader with a first-inning single.

Barlow added a double in the second inning to give him 121 hits in his career.

Highland 2, Quartz Hill 1--Danny Galvan and Dan O’Haver each hit solo home runs in a Golden League game at Highland.

Galvan’s home run came in the fourth inning and provided the winning margin for Highland (7-11, 4-3).

Jo’Sean Lyles tied the score in the third inning with his seventh home run for Quartz Hill (9-8, 1-6), which stranded seven runners in scoring position.
