Golden West Men Take Aim at Another State Title
Golden West will try to make it three men’s swimming state titles in a row starting Thursday at Hartnell College in Salinas.
The Rustlers tuned up by dominating the South Coast Conference meet last weekend, winning 15 of 17 events.
Felix Sutanto set conference records in the 200 and 400 individual medley and the 200 backstroke.
Coach Bill Jewell will juggle his team to get the most possible points out of the 35 individual swims and five relay entries Golden West has in the state meet.

Moving on: Several athletes have announced plans to move on to four-year colleges, including Cypress heavyweight wrestler David Wheeler. Wheeler, who won the state title last fall and is going to Fresno State.
Cypress’ Justin Link, the co-most valuable water polo player in the Orange Empire Conference, is going to Queens College in Flushing, N.Y.
Beth Rosen, the setter for the last two Golden West state champion women’s volleyball teams, is going to Portland.
Michael Gentile, the center for the Golden West football team, will attend Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Coach Pauley: Eric Pauley, the former Cypress College and Kansas basketball standout, was hired as an assistant coach at Tennessee last week.
Pauley was hired by new head Coach Jerry Green, who was an assistant at Kansas when Pauley played there.
