* UPDATE: Cal Ripken’s consecutive-game streak reached 2,343 Sunday, and no one in Baltimore is clamoring for him to take a day off. The shortstop-turned-third baseman is batting .330 with six home runs and a team-leading 24 RBIs. Outfielder Eric Davis has also been an outstanding addition, hitting .368 with six homers and 18 RBIs. But the real strength of the Orioles, who have the league’s best record and have led the AL East since opening day, is pitching and defense. They have a league-leading 3.55 earned-run average and a league-leading .988 fielding percentage. Closer Randy Myers is 11 for 12 in save opportunities, his first blown save coming Saturday when he gave up a homer to Oakland’s Jason Giambi with two outs in the ninth inning. The left-hander had not given up a run in his previous 12 appearances. The Angels and Orioles discussed a potential trade for Kamieniecki during spring training, but not only did the right-hander remain in Baltimore, he moved from the bullpen to the rotation when former Angel Shawn Boskie faltered as a starter. Dickson hopes to rebound from his first loss of the season.
