MRV Communications Posts Record Profits

MRV Communications Inc. posted record profits and revenues in its first quarter, which ended March 31.

MRV’s net income more than doubled to $4.3 million, up from $1.9 million in the same period a year earlier, while revenues rose 129% to $35.6 million, up from $15.5 million.

The company attributed part of its strong results to continued sales to key customers Intel, Fujitsu and Digital Equipment.

The Chatsworth-based company is a maker of fiber-optic products used in computer networks as well as cable TV and telecommunications.
