Meddling in Frank’s Medal

“Mean-spirited” is hardly the phrase for author Kitty Kelly’s campaign to prevent Frank Sinatra from receiving a Congressional Medal of Honor (Morning Report, April 23). Her efforts in this regard are merely a continuation of her personal perspective toward Sinatra contained in her book--a perspective that, many times, flew in the face of the facts and embraced distortion where the truth was concerned.

And I write this as a person “acknowledged” in her book, despite never having met with or spoken to the lady.

Sinatra deserves his medal--not only for his artistry, talent and the quiet diplomacy of song, but for having survived, over the decades, ill-mannered, ill-conceived and inaccurate attacks by the Kitty Kellys of the media world.
