In the Century League boys’ swimming finals:

Foothill cruises to victory--Foothill, ranked second in the county, outscored Villa Park, 603 to 445. Canyon finished third (259).

Foothill’s Rob Arroyo and Villa Park’s Kyle Baumgarner each won two individual events and were named swimmers of the meet. James Thornton of Foothill won the 200 free 1:44.27) and 500 free (4:42.96).

In the South Coast League:

Mission Viejo wins--The Diablos, the top-ranked team in the county, scored 607.5 points to easily outdistance runner-up Capistrano Valley (399). Piotr Florczyk won the 200 individual medley (1:55.24) and the 100 butterfly (52.43), Matt Burny took the 50 freestyle (21.66) and 100 freestyle (46.73).

In the Sunset League:

Los Alamitos captures the titles--Huntington Beach was disqualified in the 400 freestyle relay, which gave Los Alamitos the edge, 266.5 to 241.

In the Century League girls’ swimming finals:

Villa Park wins without a victory--Despite not winning an event, Villa Park’s depth proved to be the deciding factor as the Spartans edged Foothill, 431-410.

Canyon was third (353) and Orange fourth (330).

Orange swimmers Alyson Edoff and Shannon Flahive were named female swimmers of the meet. Edoff won the 200 (1:54.86) and 100 freestyle (53.85). Flahive won the 200 IM (2:11.96) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.67).

In South Coast League:

Mater Dei edges Mission Viejo--The Monarchs scored 497 points, 18 better than the runner-up Diablos, to earn their first South Coast League championship. Jessamyn Miller swept the 200 individual medley (2:07.82) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.96) for Mater Dei.

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley wins--Fountain Valley defended its title with a score of 323. Fountain Valley’ Laura Tucker, Nicole Dotts, Chrissy Motchman, and Grace Wang set a meet record in the 200 medley relay (1: 52.07).
