It has been a long time in the making, and it is still not completed, but Eastside Park is now open to the public.
“It is just a great addition to our recreation program,” said Councilwoman Barbara Kiley.
The new park, the final piece of the city’s park system, sits high atop a hill on the east end of town and has sweeping views of the rest of Yorba Linda.
Next to Valley View Sports Complex, it is the largest park in town, although not all of its 76 acres have been developed.
At this point, some playing fields have been completed, but many more athletics facilities will be built in the next three years, Kiley said.
No decisions have been made about what will be built at the Eastside complex. But the council has talked of possibly putting in a driving range, tennis courts, a swimming pool and hiking trails.
