Talk about your ocean-going financial disasters: what about the Titanic meets the Queen Mary?

To date, the film “Titanic” has run up about $200 million in production costs, compared to the $100 million that some experts say has been spent by the city of Long Beach and various investors over the years to maintain the Queen Mary.

Now the two ships are being joined in an exhibition starting this weekend on the Queen Mary.

During the exhibition, artifacts salvaged from the Titanic, along with a short film of the salvage operation and photographs of the ill-fated ocean liner, which sank in 1912, will be displayed.

An admission charge of $6, plus parking, will be charged for the Titanic exhibition, or $20 for both the exhibition and a tour of the Queen Mary.
