Edmonds’ Wrist Appears OK

Manager Terry Collins had said he would give Jim Edmonds Thursday off after the center fielder landed hard on his right wrist while making a diving catch of Jose Canseco’s flare the night before, but there was Edmonds, contributing a double, single and a run.

“I thought I broke my wrist--I heard a pop,” Edmonds said. “But I think I just pulled some muscles in my forearm. It’s a little stiff, but I’m OK.”

The Angels, looking for left-handed relief depth, signed journeyman Tim Fortugno to a triple-A contract, and the former Angel will report to Vancouver today.
