Gil Morgan shot a three-under-par 69 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the Ameritech Senior Open at Kemper Lakes Golf Course in Long Grove, Ill.

However, Hale Irwin, the top player on the senior tour this season, blazed into contention with a 66 that left him at 137, one off the pace. Jerry McGee, who shot 68, was an additional two strokes back.

Irwin birdied three holes on the first nine to go four under, and continued his charge with birdies on the 11th, 12th and 14th.

The third round of the Memorial tournament was suspended after relentless rain turned the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, into an unplayable swamp.

Tournament officials said they would try to complete the full 72 holes today, but the forecast is for more rain.
