Los Angeles City Councilwoman Laura Chick has postponed a meeting scheduled for Wednesday of the Woodland Hills/West Hills Neighborhood Planning Advisory Council at which a developer was to outline a proposal to expand Topanga Plaza.

Chick said she postponed the meeting at the request of Westfield Corp., the operators of Topanga Plaza. The company asked for additional time to prepare a more concise outline of its plans to expand the shopping mall at Victory and Topanga Canyon boulevards in Canoga Park.

So far the company has proposed adding a third floor of shops, a new department store, a pair of multilevel parking structures and a 75,000-foot expansion of the Valley’s lone Nordstrom department store.

The company had planned to unveil its plans at the advisory council meeting Wednesday night in an effort to gauge public reaction to the proposal.

The Neighborhood Planning Advisory Council is a committee of 3rd Council District residents, homeowners, business people and community activists who advise Chick’s office on various planning issues related to the community.

Chick’s office will send out a notice to advisory council members and the public when the meeting is rescheduled.
