Young, The Times player of the year as a freshman pitcher, returns but in a much different capacity. Dogged by acute tendinitis, she still went 10-3 with a 0.38 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings, but her real value to Division I semifinalist Mater Dei came as its cleanup batter, where she produced 26 RBIs and 19 runs in 27 games.
