A 27-year-old man was killed when his vehicle overturned just after 1 a.m. Friday on the transition road from the eastbound 118 Freeway to the Golden State Freeway.

The name of the victim was not released pending notification of his family.

For an unknown reason, the driver failed to negotiate the curve and struck the concrete barrier on the right shoulder, skidding before overturning, said Sgt. Steve Webb of the California Highway Patrol’s West Valley station.

The fatal injuries probably occurred when the man was pinned under the car, Webb said. He was not wearing a seat belt.
