Records--Splash 1-2, Safari 0-4

Splash update--Following a loss to Seattle last Sunday and a loss to the Indiana Twisters Friday night, the Splash is eager to change its luck. However, to do that it needs to get some scoring from midfielders Danny Barber and Armando Valdivia, who both lead the Splash with five goals each but were noticeably absent on offense Friday against the Twisters--neither one scored. On the bright side, Bernie Lilavois seems to be enjoying some scoring success as the midfielder scored two of the Splashes’ three goals against the Twisters.

Safari update--After Thursday’s 6-4 loss to Seattle, the Safari is off to its worst start since its inaugural 1994 season. But after blowouts by Indiana (9-2) and Houston (8-3), the Safari played Monterrey (9-8) and Seattle close. Four players scored against Seattle, including forward Kenny Snow, the team’s leading scorer with seven points. After playing in a franchise record 61 consecutive games, forward Andy Chapman--who injured his knee in the Houston game--missed the Monterrey and Seattle games but could return against the Splash. Detroit was 4-0 at home against Western Division teams last year.
