Church Van Overturns on San Bernardino Freeway, Killing 4
Four members of a San Bernardino church died Saturday after their van, en route to Raging Waters in San Dimas, overturned on the westbound San Bernardino Freeway, authorities said.
The crash happened about 9:20 a.m. near the Towne Avenue exit in Pomona, California Highway Patrol Officer John Escobedo said. A Ford Aerostar van from the Samoa Assembly of God was traveling in the fast lane when it skidded across the freeway and flipped over on the shoulder, hurling three passengers onto the busy freeway, Escobedo said.
Two people died at the scene, and two others died later at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, authorities said. The three other passengers were also injured.
Identities were not released pending notification of next of kin. CHP officials said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
