Disney celebrates the 4th; Paul Revere rides on A&E; ‘The Call of the Wild’ is heard on Family

Jack London’s The Call of the Wild,” based on the novelist’s 1903 classic, stars Rutger Hauer and is narrated by Richard Dreyfuss (Family Channel, Sunday at 5 p.m.). Filmed in Quebec, this is the story of Buck, a strong dog who is kidnapped from his pleasant surroundings in California and put to work in the wild and harsh Gold Rush era of the Yukon. Hauer plays a rugged hunter who saves Buck’s life and then takes him on a search for gold. For ages 10-17.

In the fantasy Legend (TBS, Thursday at 10:05 a.m.), Tom Cruise is a young hero who must face the evil Lord of Darkness to save a beautiful princess. The movie also stars Mia Sara, Tim Curry and Billy Barty. For ages 13 to 17.

Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto, “Disney’s Fab Five,” celebrate the Fourth of July in a daylong cartoon festival (Disney Channel, Friday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.). The fare includes “Mickey and the Seal,” “Corn Chips” “Mickey’s Greatest Adventures” and “Pluto and His Friends.” Minnie gives Robert Carradine lessons on “how to be cool” at Minne’s Center for the Totally Unhip on “Disney’s Totally Minnie” (2:25 p.m). For ages 5 to 10.

Paul Revere: The Midnight Rider (A&E;, Saturday at 7 a.m.) is the subject of a “Biography for Kids,” profiling the Revolutionary War hero who warned that “The Redcoats are coming!” For ages 7 to 14.

A dinosaur named Crash finds a safe haven in the American Museum of Natural History in Crash the Curiousaurus (ABC, Saturday at 11:30 a.m.). Aided by two children, he travels through time in search of the existence of other like himself. For ages 6 to 10.
