Richard Jaeckel

Re “Richard Jaeckel; Character Actor in Films, on TV,” obituary, June 18:

During the early 1940s a bunch of us, including Dick Jaeckel, haunted the Hollywood YMCA; it was the thing to do in those days. When “Jaecke” got the part in “Guadalcanal Diary” we all bragged how he was one of our buddies.

It’s a fond memory now.
