Those Protected at Crystal Cove

* Re “Project May Hurt Dolphin Habitat, OCC Biologist Says,” July 25:

While Orange Coast College professor Dennis Kelly’s focus is on the study of the local dolphin population, the article is really about the protection of the “privileged few” who have been living and “squatting” on public property at Crystal Cove State Park at taxpayers’ expense.

These “residents,” (whom Kelly lauds as being some kind of altruistic “wardens” benefiting the dolphin population) have been subsidized for much too long a time.

Who is really trying to protect whom here? This sounds like just another ploy by the “privileged few” to live out their days in “Eden” since their latest round of legal suits against the state for time extensions have failed.

Nice try, but I for one am not buying it, and neither should anyone else. Let the park rangers or student volunteers watch for the dolphins.
