Bonita Unified School Board member Elizabeth Yost said she will not seek another term in November.

Two candidates, board President Robert Olander II and former state Senate candidate Tommy Randle, have filed papers to run for her seat in a Nov. 4 election. Yost is considered the unofficial leader of the majority on the five-member board.

The school district, which encompasses La Verne and San Dimas, has suffered a series of crises in the past year, including the firing of its superintendent.

Yost, an attorney, said that after a rewarding tenure on the board she hopes to leave her seat to someone “raring to go.”

She said she wants to pursue her legal career and take advantage of an opportunity to work as a judge pro tem.

Candidates for the school board must file their papers by Friday.
