Jabberjaw Turns Off Coffee, Music
Clublanders are in mourning this week after Jabberjaw, the artful coffeehouse that put on some of L.A.’s best underground rock shows in its eight-year history, closed its doors Monday. No word yet from owner Gary Dent if the club plans to reopen (for years now, he’s been angling to move from its Pico Boulevard location). . . .
Whisky booker Michael Giangreco has taken over Roxy booking duties as well, the first time in-house shows at the two venues have been scheduled by one person since the Whisky’s original owner, Elmer Valentine, did double duty back in the ‘60s. . . . Don’t know what this means for the future of rock ‘n’ roll locals the Dashboard Prophets, but guitarist Dan Meyer has called it quits and the group’s front man, Chris Dye, has been playing solo gigs around town.
