Owner of Pit Bulls to Be Charged After Attacks

The owner of two pit bulls that bit a Pasadena man will be charged with violating the city’s leash law and having a dog without a license, officials said Wednesday.

The attack occurred about midnight Tuesday when the dogs escaped from a yard near Mar Vista Avenue and Union Street, police said. Authorities did not identify the owner but said they would charge him and have his dogs impounded.

The pit bulls first attacked a small, poodle-like dog and then bit the animal’s owner, said Steve McNall, executive director of the Pasadena Humane Society, which acts as a policing agency in the city’s animal cases.

Both the victim and his dog were treated for bites, McNall said. The pit bulls are in the custody of the Humane Society pending completion of the investigation.
