Splash update--Anaheim lost the first two games of their four-game trip. Sunday’s 6-4 loss at Monterrey came on the heels of an 8-6 setback in Sacramento. Anaheim’s last victory was on July 20 against the SeaDogs. The Splash hopes to bolster the defense with the signing of veteran Shane Hickson, who is expected to be in uniform for tonight’s game. Hickson, 28, was acquired in the CISL supplemental draft July 10. He played on Anaheim’s 1994 and 1995 division championship teams. In four CISL seasons, covering 70 regular-season games, Hickson has 11 goals, 13 assists and 43 defensive blocks. Forward Bernie Lilavois leads the Splash in goals (15) and assists (seven). Defender Matt West could be available tonight after missing two games because of a strained right calf muscle.

SeaDog update--Seattle trails first-place Sacramento by a game in the Western Division, but the SeaDogs are in a 2-4 slump. Seattle continues to be the West’s top scoring team with 77 goals. Five came in the second half of Sunday’s 6-4 victory over Portland. Seattle holds a 2-1 edge in the season series; The SeaDogs’ victories came June 22 in Anaheim (9-6) and July 11 in Seattle (4-2). Forward Jean Harbor, the MVP in this year’s all-star game, is tied for fifth among the league scoring leaders with 27 points. He is tied with midfielder Dick McCormick for the club lead in goals (14). The SeaDogs will be without defender Todd Stauber, still recovering from a sprained right knee ligament.
