Field Office to Get Official Welcome

Although deputies have been using the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station field office at the Costco facility for nearly a year now, it finally will get an official welcome to the community today at the warehouse store’s anniversary celebration.

As part of a development agreement with the builder, the city of Westlake Village asked that the office be included in the store in order to provide better patrol coverage for the facility and the surrounding commercial area.

The goal was to provide a place for deputies to complete administrative tasks and make phone calls without having to travel to the station in Calabasas.

“They felt it would allow officers to stay in the city more and not have to return to the station as often,” said Capt. Bill McSweeney. Deputies “find it very convenient for their communications and writing needs.”

But, he added, the office could not be called a satellite station because it is not staffed, and therefore not equipped to regularly take complaints from the community.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 9:45 a.m. Representatives from the city and the sheriff’s station are expected to attend.

In conjunction with the office opening, the warehouse store will celebrate its first anniversary by serving breakfast, beginning at 9 a.m., and continuing through 3 p.m. with demonstrations and lunch.
