Splash update--Not only did Anaheim drop its third consecutive game in Thursday’s 4-3 loss at Seattle, but it also lost leading scorer Bernie Lilavois. Lilavois, who has 15 goals and seven assists, was taken hard into the boards in the third quarter and suffered a bruised back. He was taken off the field on a stretcher, but was released from the hospital later that night. Lilavois will not play tonight and will also miss Sunday’s home game against the Western Division’s last-place team, the Arizona Sandsharks (3-10). Lilavois and Dale Ervine each scored two goals in a 7-2 season-opening home victory over the Pride, June 20.

Pride update--Portland returns home from Detroit after thrashing the league’s worst team, the Safari (1-14), Thursday. The Pride defeated the the Safari, 6-1, to post its second consecutive victory. In Portland’s last meeting with Anaheim, the Splash outshot the Pride, 22-14, and scored five consecutive goals to break open a one-goal game.
