Ventura police were seeking several suspects Saturday in connection with two stabbings.

The first assault occurred about 10:40 p.m. Friday near a pay phone on Simpson Street and Ventura Avenue, according to Lt. Brad Talbot.

While returning home from making a phone call, a 17-year-old boy was confronted by gang members. His 14-year-old brother went to his aid and was stabbed once in the chest, according to police.

The 14-year-old was taken to Ventura County Medical Center with a knife still impaled in his chest, police said.

A nurse on Saturday said the boy was in serious condition. The older brother was treated for abrasions and released.

Although three or four people were interviewed Friday night, no arrests were made, Talbot said.

About 20 minutes later, at 11 p.m., two other youths were attacked at Grant Park.

Gabriel Flores, 21, and a 16-year-old boy were at the park when they were confronted by gang members, police said. Flores discovered he had been stabbed when he was fleeing to his car, police said. He was in serious but stable condition Saturday. No arrests were made.
