Wizards Shut Out Mutiny, 2-0

Sean Bowers hammered home Mark Chung’s corner kick in the fourth minute and Frank Klopas added a goal in the 24th minute as the Western Conference-leading Kansas City Wizards defeated the Tampa Bay Mutiny (13-11), 2-0, in front of 11,296 at Houlihan’s Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

The Wizards (16-7) have won four in a row and Tampa Bay had a three-game winning streak ended. It was the Mutiny’s first shutout loss at home.

Colorado 3, New England 0--Two goals and an assist by Wolde Harris helped earn the Rapids the victory in front of 8,654 rain-soaked fans at Mile High Stadium in Denver.

David Patino also scored for Colorado (12-12), which moved into second place in the West. The Revolution, which plays the Galaxy at Foxboro (Mass.) Stadium on Thursday, fell to 12-11, losing its fourth in a row.

San Jose 2, Columbus 1--The Clash scored on its last three chances of a six-round shootout to slip past the Crew after the teams had ended regulation tied, 1-1.

U.S. national team defender Thomas Dooley scored for Columbus (9-14) only seconds before halftime, chipping a shot over former Galaxy goalkeeper David Kramer off a pass from A.J. Wood. But Lawrence Lozzano tied it in the 70th minute for the Clash (9-15) at Spartan Stadium in San Jose.
