BREA--Check out the food and local talent at Brea Fest: A Taste of the Arts, 7-10:30 p.m. Aug. 22. The fund-raiser for Brea cultural arts programs will include presentations by local theater and dance troupes, an art exhibit, artists’ demonstrations and live music. SAN JOSE--About 400 artists and craftspeople will display their wares at Tapestry in Talent, Aug. 30-Sept. 1. YUCAIPA--At Parrish Pioneer Ranch’s Old West wingding, Western Days ‘97, costumed cowboys will reenact shootouts, a storyteller, with seeds in hand, will recount tales of Johnny Appleseed, and American Indians will dance, drum and sing. SEBASTOPOL--There will be apples--prepared as fritters, dipped in caramel, baked in pies and turnovers, frozen as slush, brewed into cider and by the bag--at the 23rd Annual Gravenstein Apple Fair. SAUSALITO--This city’s 45th annual Art Festival will showcase more than 14,000 original works, from fiber art to photography, wearable art to woodwork.
