A consumer’s guide to the best and worst of sports media and merchandise. Ground rules: If it can be read, played, heard, observed, worn, viewed, dialed or downloaded, it’s in play here.

What: St. Andrews Lithograph Collection (Sleeping Bear Press)

Price: $95 each, $500 for set of six; (800) 487-2323.

The Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland, may be the home of golf, but for anyone who hasn’t been been able to wipe his feet on the welcome mat there--or for anyone who has actually played the course--this collection of lithographs either puts you there for the first time or makes you feel as though you’re back home again.

Iain Macfarlane Lowe, a photographer for the Links Trust of St. Andrews, shot more rolls of film of the legendary course than there are golf balls lost in the heather and the gorse.

For this project, Lowe rose to the occasion. He shot his photos from 40-foot scaffolds, which makes St. Andrews appear a lot different than you might expect. It’s anything but flat.

From the thousands of rolls of film he shot, Lowe chose six photographs for the collection.

Three of the more interesting are the Hell Bunker; the first fairway and 18th green at night; and (a personal favorite) the Road Hole, Swilcan Bridge, 18th hole and clubhouse.

Each lithograph is 22 inches by 28 inches and limited to 1,000 copies signed by Lowe and numbered.
