Fluor Corp. has elected Dean R. O’Hare, chairman and chief executive of insurance giant Chubb Corp., to its board of directors.

O’Hare, 55, joined New Jersey-based Chubb in 1963 as an underwriting trainee and has been chairman and CEO since 1988.

He brings to Fluor’s board “significant global business perspectives . . . as well as valuable expertise in the energy, financial, risk management and high technology industries,” Fluor Chairman Les McCraw said.

O’Hare is the first of three new Fluor board members to be named in coming months as three of the engineering and construction company’s longtime directors reach mandatory retirement age.
