PIA Merchandising Services Inc.: The Irvine supplier of merchandising services reported a second quarter loss of $1.9 million, or 35 cents a share, compared with profit of $206,000, or 3 cents a share, for the same period last year. Revenue increased 17% to $31.6 million from $26.9 million. The six-month loss was $3.1 million, or 54 cents a share, contrasted with a year-earlier profit of $1.1 million, or 19 cents a share. Revenue for the first half advanced 15% to $61 million from $53.1 million. The company said it is developing a restructuring plan to align costs with its changing mix of business.
