This Is So Long Winded, Lasorda Might Like It

One hates to put a guy like Tom Lasorda down after the crowning moment of a long, average career, but I am simply ready to vomit after reading the fawning memorials to this man by Plaschke and Downey and all the others, not to mention the false humility and canned phoniness of Lasorda himself, a buffoon who has no business standing beside the ghost of Nellie Fox, who played it but never talked it and exemplified what baseball really was, and should be, but no longer is.
