From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The New York publisher of Webster L. Hubbell, a former Justice Department official who served time in prison, has asked a federal judge in New York to throw out a subpoena from Whitewater prosecutors that demands access to an unfinished book by the longtime friend of President Clinton. William Morrow & Co. cited 1st Amendment protections of the editorial process and accused independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr of “nothing more than a fishing expedition.” U.S. District Judge Denny Chin ordered Starr’s office to explain why it needs to see a manuscript in progress.
