Tustin Street Project to Begin on Tuesday

Merchants, pedestrians, shoppers and motorists may be detoured from Tustin Street at various times over the next few months.

The city is using federal transportation funds to launch a major project to repair the asphalt, curbs and sidewalks along the busy corridor, starting Tuesday.

Along with street repair, workers will build sidewalk access ramps and add bus stops.

The project, which runs from Collins Avenue to Bixby Avenue, should take about 120 days. If work is not complete by Nov. 15, construction will come to a halt until Jan. 13 to prevent disruptions for holiday shoppers, a spokesman for the project said.
