Lone Robber Holds Up Oxnard Bank
OXNARD — A man who claimed to have a gun escaped on foot after robbing a Bank of America branch Monday afternoon.
The man, who authorities believe may have robbed a B of A in Westlake Village on Nov. 17, entered the branch located at 1855 N. Oxnard Blvd. at about 3:15 p.m., authorities said. He approached two tellers, told each he had a gun, then demanded cash, said Gary Auer, supervising agent for the FBI’s Ventura office.
Witnesses described the man as Latino, 35 to 40 years old, 5 feet 9, 170 pounds, with long, dark hair and a dark mustache. The man, who never showed a gun, was wearing a dark green, long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans, Auer said.
“The robbery was all done verbally--there was no note,” he said.
It was the 23rd bank robbery in the county and the fifth in Oxnard this year, Auer said.
Authorities plan to compare photos of the Oxnard suspect with those taken during the Westlake Village robbery to determine if the crimes were committed by the same man.
“There were a lot of similarities,” Auer said.
