Amelio’s Apple Severance Tops $6.7 Million
(Bloomberg News)
Gilbert Amelio received a $6.74-million severance package from Apple Computer Inc. after being ousted as chairman and chief executive of the ailing computer maker, according to a regulatory filing. Separate from his exit pay, Amelio received $2.65 million for his services to Apple in the fiscal year ended Sept. 26, raising his total compensation in the year to $9.39 million, the filing said. The exact amount of the package became known for the first time in the Cupertino-based company’s preliminary proxy statement submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission for approval before it can be sent to shareholders. The value of the severance previously was estimated at between $7 million and $10 million.
