Many Holiday Events Planned This Weekend
If any residents need help whipping up that festive spirit, this is the weekend to get it.
Santa will be available not once but twice over the weekend, visiting Victorian Manor, at Maple Avenue and Olive Street, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. today and Watson’s Drug Store on Chapman Avenue from noon until 4 p.m. Sunday.
Shoppers will run into carolers from the El Modena High School Choral Group and the Villa Park Spirit Singers as they stroll the streets between 1:30 and 5 p.m. today.
Horse-drawn trolley rides will be offered from 1 to 6 p.m. today, leaving from the plaza.
Be prepared for an impromptu election on Sunday as well. Volunteers will ask random visitors to judge a window-decorating contest for nearly 100 plaza businesses. Also, on Sunday, the traditional community candlelight choir, complete with orchestra, will perform at 4:30 p.m. on the plaza. City officials will light the tree and menorah as a finale.
