3 Receive Business Involvement Awards

Simi Valley-based Bugle Boy Industries and Dave High Ink, and Moorpark-based Comanche Custom Cycles were honored by Ventura County Supervisor Judy Mikels for donating funds or services to community organizations. Each business received a commendation certificate during a ceremony for Mikels’ second annual Business Involvement Awards.

Bugle Boy was honored for providing $5,000 to the Simi Valley Friends of the Library. Dave High Ink was honored for providing volunteer graphic services to several nonprofits and other organizations. Comanche Custom Cycles was recognized for organizing a benefit for the Moorpark Boys & Girls Club to raise funds for repairs needed because of vandalism at club facilities.

Bank Officer Honored for Civic Contributions * Sue Chadwick, vice president and regional manager of Santa Barbara Bank & Trust in Ventura, received a Woman of Achievement Award from the Buena Center Business & Professional Women’s organization. Chadwick was recognized for her “civic and community involvement and contribution to women as a role model and mentor.” Chadwick is president of the Boy Scouts of America and serves on the boards of the Ventura County Economic Development Assn., UC Santa Barbara Economic Forecast Project and California Strawberry Festival.

2 Boys & Girls Clubs Get Destino 2000 Grants * The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Paula and Fillmore-Piru are recipients of the Destino 2000 Hispanic Legacy Fund grants. The clubs were awarded a total of $1,500 for their “Kids-at-Hope” program, which works to reverse negative behavior in at-risk youth.
