Turnovers Are Not a Big Concern Yet
The Bruins, who had been relatively careful with the ball in their first three games, were not overly concerned with their 19 turnovers in their victory over New Mexico on Saturday.
Baron Davis, who committed four turnovers, one fewer than Toby Bailey, said the additional turnovers were a natural result of UCLA’s high energy level.
“Early on, we just had a lot of silly mistakes--balls bouncing off of guys’ feet or me stepping out of bounds,” Davis said.
“Any time you come out there with that kind of intensity and have that kind of adrenaline, I think you’re going to see some of those things.”
In its first three games, all at the Great Alaska Shootout, UCLA averaged 13.3 turnovers. That was a contrast to the first three games of last season, when the Bruins averaged 23.3.
