Orlando Magic guard Penny Hardaway, troubled by tendinitis in his left knee, was placed on the injured list Monday and will miss at least five more games.

Hardaway has missed eight of the team’s 21 games, including the last two.

Phoenix Sun guard Kevin Johnson might require arthroscopic surgery on his chronically sore right knee, team doctor Richard Emerson said after a reevaluation.

“No timeline for his return has been set and future treatment decisions, including arthroscopic surgery, will depend upon his progress,” Emerson said.

With their teams meeting for the first time this season tonight, Chicago Bull Coach Phil Jackson renewed his barbs against New York Knick Coach Jeff Van Gundy, this time by agreeing with him.

“He deserves the blame,” said Jackson, referring to Van Gundy’s comments Sunday after the Knicks’ 93-78 loss at Philadelphia. “He should take that blame, no doubt about it.”

Van Gundy told reporters after the game that he was “doing as bad a job as a coach could possibly do.”
