Overhauser Makes All-American Team
UCLA had a strong presence on the Associated Press’ All-American list announced Tuesday, with right tackle Chad Overhauser making the first team.
Overhauser joined two other Pacific 10 Conference players on the first-team offensive line: Benji Olsen and Olin Kreutz, both of Washington.
Overhauser also was named a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Assn. of America.
Three Bruins made the AP second team: tailback Skip Hicks, kicker Chris Sailer and safety Shaun Williams.
Hicks and Sailer were first-team choices by the American Football Coaches Assn. and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Quarterback Cade McNown and strong safety Larry Atkins were third-team choices by the Associated Press.
At the Bruins’ recent banquet, McNown and Atkins were named most valuable players on offense and defense, respectively.
