The Laurence 2000 School will dedicate its new campus Thursday at the school grounds at 13639 Victory Blvd.

The 9 a.m. ceremony will mark the official opening of the new administration building on Victory Boulevard.

The school purchased the building, which is adjacent to the existing campus, and converted it to administrative offices last summer.

The old administration building was converted into kindergarten classrooms and learning centers.

“It’s really a beautiful addition,” said Marvin Jacobson, who has been the school’s director since it opened at that same address 45 years ago.

The new addition was created with children in mind, said Jacobson. Bright, fun artwork fills the new campus.

The entire project was paid for by parents.

Along with the dedication, the private school will also host international and Family Day festivities.

Students in each grade have been studying a different nation all year. The program will link the students with pen pals in the country they studied. The classes also use the Internet to learn more about different cultures, Jacobson said.

On Thursday, each grade will demonstrate things they have learned about the country by singing traditional songs and wearing traditional costumes.

“The students really get into it,” Jacobson said.

The day’s activities also will include a program in which families team up to create the perfect community school, he said.
