ArtCity Plan: Stores, Museum and Galleries
- Share via
An Orange County-based arts organization is proposing a project called “ArtCity” that could showcase a museum, arts-related stores and galleries.
The City Council, acting as the Redevelopment Agency, will consider an agreement today to pursue negotiations with the Arts District Development Corp. of Orange and the Architram Design Group of Ontario for the proposed project.
“It’s a way to establish whether the city is interested in pursuing that type of concept, and it seemed worthwhile to pursue,” said Lisa Stipkovich, redevelopment executive director.
The Arts District has said that Anaheim would be a good place for the project because of its reputation for professional sports and entertainment, and its commitment to the arts. Redevelopment officials said the developer would still need to develop a financing plan and find a building site.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. in the council chambers, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd. Information: (714) 254-5166.
