Ludwicki’s 28 Points Key OCC’s Victory

Jennifer Ludwicki had 28 points to help Orange Coast to an 89-50 victory over Southwestern in the first round of the Orange Coast women’s basketball Christmas Classic Friday at Orange Coast.

Ludwicki had eight rebounds and four assists. Southwestern, which shot 24% from the floor, hit on 20 of 83 shots.

In another first-round game:

San Diego Mesa 78, Fullerton 77--Kim Schielke’s two free throws with 11 seconds left in overtime put San Diego Mesa ahead. She then sealed the victory after stealing the ball with two seconds left in overtime. Angie Baca had 28 points and Aimee Coop scored 27 to lead Fullerton (8-5). San Diego Mesa is 10-3.

In the Glendale men’s basketball tournament:

Bakersfield 83, Orange Coast 75--Brandon Kurtz scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Bakersfield (11-0) advanced to the championship game. Shaun Jackson led Orange Coast (8-4) with 25 points and Chris Candlish added 12. Orange Coast will play in the third place game at 5 tonight.

Fullerton 83, Southwestern 68--Erick Ashe scored 23 points, including three three-pointers, to lead Fullerton (9-4).
