Doctor and His Wife Sentenced in Tax Case
A former Westminster doctor and his wife were sentenced Monday for not reporting nearly $300,000 on their individual and corporate income tax returns.
U.S. District Judge Gary L. Taylor placed Dr. David Dung Le, 54, on probation for three years and ordered his wife, Kim Huong Le, 46, to serve five months in prison.
The couple, who lived in Laguna Niguel but moved to Texas last year, faced up to six years each in prison.
In September, the Les pleaded guilty to two counts of filing false income tax returns. An investigation began several years ago into the former Westminster medical practice run by Dr. Le, where his wife worked as a bookkeeper.
They owe back taxes amounting to $295,940, plus interest and penalties. The Internal Revenue Service did not reveal the total amount owed.
