Church Groups, Children Raise $3,200 for Homeless
Seven church organizations and five groups of schoolchildren raised more than $3,200 to help the Orange County Rescue Mission assist the homeless.
One of the donors was a third-grader at Our Lady of Fatima School in San Clemente who collected $54 in coins from fellow classmates.
“He brought an old sock to school and urged his classmates to contribute money for meals at your shelter,” Principal Sue Simmons said in a letter Monday to the mission.
The mission, which operates nonprofit programs in Santa Ana and Orange, helped more than 58,000 of the homeless and poverty stricken this year.
To donate food, clothing, blankets or money to the mission, call Patty Bell at (714) 258-4450, Ext. 204.
