Where the Rubber Soles Meet the Road
COSTA MESA — Early morning drivers on Saturday were startled to find boxes of tennis shoes scattered across the southbound lanes of the Costa Mesa Freeway.
The boxes spilled from a pickup truck involved in a traffic accident, said a dispatcher for the California Highway Patrol. The accident reportedly occurred just south of Paularino Avenue shortly after 6 a.m.
Traffic was delayed about half an hour while Caltrans workers removed the boxes.
No information was available about the accident’s cause or whether anyone was injured.
