A Pain in the Head
Ho, ho, ho can turn too quickly into oh, oh, oh as holiday stress and tension bring on headaches to even the most mellow of partyers.
The National Headache Foundation has some tips to keep those holiday headaches at bay:
* Practice relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing and neck stretches, when situations become tense.
* Be wary of smoke- and perfume-filled rooms. Smells and smoke are headache triggers.
* Try to maintain a normal sleep schedule even if you’re not working. A change in sleep patterns, especially too much sleep, triggers migraines in some people.
* Watch what you eat. Some migraines are triggered by certain foods, such as ripe cheeses, citrus fruits and chocolate.
* Don’t drink excessive amounts of alcohol unless you want a hangover headache, which brings us to Page S4.
