LEHIGH (5-5) vs. LONG BEACH STATE (4-6) at the Pyramid, 7:30--Coach Sal Mentesana’s Engineers had rebounded nicely from last season’s 1-26 disaster until running into No. 7 Stanford on Saturday, losing 95-42. Guard Brett Eppehimer was one of the Patriot League’s top scorers last season, averaging 20.3 points while making 87.6% of his free throws. Forward Fido Willybiro has certainly made a name for himself. Long Beach State is coming off an 81-71 victory over USC in which C.W. Post transfer Andrew Betts, a seven-footer, asserted himself with 31 points and nine rebounds.

SOUTHERN UTAH (2-8) at LOYOLA MARYMOUNT (2-8), 7, KXLU-FM (88.9 Westchester)--The Lions, coming off an 0-2 pre-Christmas trip, have a chance to get things in gear again against Southern Utah. Haywood Eaddy, the Lions’ point guard and leading scorer, made only five of 16 shots and did not get to the foul line in an 89-74 loss at Providence. The Thunderbirds are coming off a 94-79 victory over Alaska Anchorage in which Jason Essex scored 21 points and had six rebounds.
